John M. Ford Memorial Updates
The Minneapolis Memorial Service will be Friday, October 27th at First Universalist Church of Minneapolis, 3400 Dupont Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55408. The service will be from 2-4 PM; there will be a reception following from 4-5:30 PM.

John Scalzi is auctioning off a bound manuscript copy of The Last Colony. This is one of only four copies in existence - go read. It's up to $340 (from a $50 start) as of my last 'refresh' - he's throwing in sweeteners at $200, $500, $1000, $2000, $3000 (you can be a character in an upcoming book), and $5000 (he'll write you your own short story).

The Friends of the Minneapolis Public Library has endowment funds. For every $500 in the fund, one book is purchased every year for the library using the fund's income - they do not touch the principle, so it buys new books for (theoretically) forever. There's a PayPal 'contribute' button on their homepage (and, yes, they know about the typo).
