Mis-spoke a bit, maybe - I've had computer access, but I haven't had net access. Right now, I'm living on a 28.8k dial-up. Painful, for someone who's used to DSL at home and OC3s at work.
And I remember when 28.8 was a lightning fast connection!
Once upon a time I had a 300k modem. Of course that was well before this fancy "Internet" fad started, and no one had ever heard of the World Wide Web. Still managed to many man-hours poking around my local BBS's though.
I got started on-line using FidoNet - my first modem was a 2400 baud. I ran a FidoNet node - Fire Opal - using it for a year or so before upgrading to a USRobotics Courier 28.8.
