My wife says I have to LJ this

Prompted by Henry on Eureka saying 'any man who says he understands women is either naive or a liar', my lovely [livejournal.com profile] iraunink asked me, "Do you understand women?" I replied "No, I just have some routines for dealing with them - they're kind of like black boxes. With this input, I get that output."

This almost had her rolling on the floor - literally.

Heh. At least you don't have to contend with failing to understand both halves of the human race. :-P

...although I rather strongly suspect the feeling is mutual all around. *sigh* I was a goth in a past life, can you tell? ;-)

I find that the person's gender has no correlation at all to whether or not I understand them. Some I do, some I don't.

Hee hee, that's great! Though I guess that's a fair summary of how most people deal with interactions with anyone else, not just of the other gender.

Just have to figure out that everyone's black box deals with the same input in different ways... ;-)

And then there's black box debugging!!!!!!!!!!!

Day-amn! You're doing very well indeed! The best I've ever been able to manage is a probability function in the black box--"with this input, I most likely get that output. But then I might unpredictably get that, that, or even THAT instead."

Hee! And a big thanks to your wife for making you share the funny with us.
