A Musical Question

Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture, AKA Fingal's Cave, sounds like it's something I've heard in the soundtrack for a skiffy or fantasy movie sometime. imdb.com lists it several times, most notably in a bunch of Chuck Jones Inki cartoons. It also lists a couple of Western serials. It doesn't list LA Confidential, which another source credits.

Anyone have any idea why I associate this with an SF film?

Got a link to a clip? I can't pull the melody out of my head based on the name.

It reminds me of the theme to Stargage SG-1, though that theme is more martial in tone. The tone progression seems to match closely (at least to my ear). I suspect that any number of themes could say the same, though, so it may just be that sort of similarity that's triggering your recognition.

It's possible it was used in a trailer or commercial for a movie, often they use different music in those than is actually in the film.
