It was a Minicon.

Friday was dinner at TGI Friday’s – we introduced the kids to American Dim Sum. Go to your favorite restaurant, and have a dinner entirely of appetizers. It’s quick, frequently cheaper than getting entrees, and you get more variety of food! They liked the concept, and the execution.

Then it was back to the hotel for Opening Ceremonies – Harlan Ellison tried so hard to insult everyone in the audience, but just couldn’t succeed.

I picked up a copy of [livejournal.com profile] naominovik’s His Majesty's Dragon.

I worked the Green Room for a couple of shifts – one Saturday, one Sunday.

Saturday night I went out to dinner at Red Pepper with [livejournal.com profile] iraunink, [livejournal.com profile] kosmickitten, [livejournal.com profile] bernesemntdog, [livejournal.com profile] judith_dascoyne & Mitch (WINOLJ) – we split two orders of fried dumplings, and an order each of cream cheese wontons, stir-fried green beans with extra garlic, the house Scallops, beef with snow pea-pods, mu shu (?) pork, and sesame chicken. We probably could have skipped one of the orders of appetizers – but it was good food, and we ate practically all of it. Which meant no left-overs to worry about! Yay!

I got two [livejournal.com profile] jonsinger bowls at the Minicon Art Auction! Specifically, I got the Dusty Black Satin and New Blue bowls.

I got stuff from Offworld Designs - specifically the Rune Dragon Tote Bag and Embroidered Denim Dragon shirt. They do lovely work!

Poor [livejournal.com profile] laurel got assassinated at Closing Ceremonies - [livejournal.com profile] jbru was nowhere to be found. Well, as a reward for surviving the experience, he gets to be Minn-StF President for another year!

On Monday, I had two job interviews. The first was at Merrill Corporation – Caryl Eschweiler (WINOLJ) and [livejournal.com profile] fredcritter currently work there, [livejournal.com profile] jbru used to. If I get the job, I’ll be working in a Computer Support unit, doing mixed internal and external support, with project work. I should hear something back from them in a couple of weeks. The second was at Plato Learning – for everyone who asked, yes, it is the company that spun off with the old Plato time-sharing system from CDC about thirty years ago. Pretty much the same job, no external customers, I’d be part of a smaller unit. I should hear back from them by the end of the week.

In the evening, I went to the Dead Dodo party at [livejournal.com profile] fmsv’s, and had much fun with their player piano. I played:

  • Bohemian Rhapsody, by Queen (a ‘sing-along’ word roll)

  • Toreador’s Song, from Carmen

  • 1812 Festival Overture (a two roll piece!)

  • Finlandia, using the Honkytonk attachment (it was very silly)

I’m fairly certain I played one more roll, but I’ve forgotten what it was. [livejournal.com profile] fmsv, could you check the sheet and let me know? Overall, it was quite a work-out – I want a player piano of my own! Ah, well – another thing for the ‘when I win the lottery’ list.

Still to go before I'm caught up - e-mail and LJ. I'm down to about 150 messages to read (mostly Bujold list mail) - then I'll start working on LJ. If I don't end up with skip=500 at least, I'll be very surprised!

Oh - the dogs went off with Pets Are Inn for the weekend - they left Friday morning, and came back Monday afternoon. From their lack of energy this morning, I'd say they had a very busy weekend themselves!

Now it’s time to get back to work.
