We went out for dinner tonight
Apr. 28th, 2011 11:19 pmThursday is our standing dinner date with Don & Margo (WANOLJ), with the occasional addition of Karen and/or Gin (WAANOLJ).
Tonight, we went out for dinner at Hazel's Northeast for Dining Out For Life, where participating restaurants give some percentage of their take for the night to AIDS/HIV relief - in Minneapolis, it goes to support The Aliveness Project.
We were joined by Julie and Deanna (WANOLJ). We had Fried Green Olives for an appetizer - I had one, that is all of that I'll ever have to have. I had the Swedish Meatballs,
iraunink had the Runestone Steak, Deanna had the Daily Risotto, Julie had the Pasta Pomidoro (sp?), Don & Margo each had burgers. For dessert,
iraunink & I had banana chocolate bread pudding, Don & Margo each had chocolate pecan pie with Vanilla ice cream, Julie had a banana split in home-made waffle-cone bowl, and Deanna skipped dessert.
We were all very happy with our meals. It was fun. They ... were fairly obviously overwhelmed. We had a reservation for 7pm, we finally got seated about 7:45, and got out of the restaurant about 9pm. It's out of the way for us, but will go onto the list of 'stop by if it's convenient'.
kalikanzara - it's 2-4 blocks north of your place, on Johnson. If you haven't tried it, you should. It would be a nice place to go eat at from a party at your place.

Dinner out
Jan. 13th, 2011 05:20 amWe really liked it. We're thinking about going back some Thursday night for their all-you-can-eat sushi.
Which brings to mind a question - for those of you in the Twin Cities who like sushi, who else is doing all-you-can-eat sushi? How much and when?

Nov. 1st, 2010 05:33 pmJust ordered tickets for
iraunink and me to The Christmas Music of Mannheim Steamroller by Chip Davis, 4 December at 8pm at the Orpheum.
She was up between 8:00 & 8:30 (or, as she would put it, oh-dark-thirty) this morning. For those of you who don't know her - she considers 10am the start of morning. She wasn't quite as eager as child on Christmas morning. I got up about 30 minutes later, we did some puttering, got ready, and walked the dogs.
We left the house shortly before 10. We went to Subway for breakfast, then took I-94 over to Wisconsin, where we caught state highway 35 south. Our intended destination was LaCrosse. We stopped at convenience store somewhere south of Prescott, where we got some snacks and two bottles of New Glarus Ale - one Cherry, one Raspberry Tart. We headed farther south, stopping at Maiden Rock Winery & Cidery. There we got two bottles of wine and four-pack of sparkling cider. We had lunch at Third Street Deli somewhere south of Maiden Rock. On the road again, and stopped at Seven Hawks Vineyards - there we got two bottles of wine. Headed further south, gave up before we got to LaCrosse and crossed back into Minnesota at Winona. Stopped at Falconer Vineyards and got three bottles of wine there.
We got home about 5pm, walked the dogs, and order pizza from Papa John's. Trick-or-treaters started showing up. Pizza got here, we had Falconer Vineyards LaCrescent wine with it.
It was a fun day.
An evening out
Sep. 13th, 2010 07:13 pmWe got a postcard from the Austin Lounge Lizards today. We're going to their show at The Celtic Junction in St. Paul this Friday, 9/17 at 7:30.
The weekend
Nov. 22nd, 2009 07:29 pmI didn't have to go to work today! Yay! (Downside - I work 7am-7pm on Black Friday. I'm not certain this isn't a win.)
My weekend started on Wednesday -
iraunink & I picked up
elisem, and we went to Bakers Square for dinner.
Thursday
iraunink took me to Burger King for lunch, then we went to JoAnne Fabrics where she bought some yarn, and then Don & Margo (WANOLJ) came over our weekly dinner get-together. They brought pork-chops & mashed potatoes & a sweet bread for dessert, we provided salad, veggies, and whipped cream (to enhance the dessert).
Friday was a quiet day at home - we never made it out of the house.
Saturday was a Minn-StF Meeting at
fmsv &
cowfan's. Much fun was had with their Player Piano. I was very happy I didn't have to go home to go to work - we didn't leave until 1:30 Sunday morning, at which point the group around the Player Piano was still going strong. IIRC, I played 1-12 rolls myself.
Today was get woken up by the dogs about 11am, two loads of laundry, get caught up on computer stuff, not accomplish as much as I wanted. Dinner was Bellatoria Supreme Pizza and Turning Leaf Riesling wine. I'm shortly headed for bed.

A fun evening out
Oct. 22nd, 2009 09:25 pmI won four tickets to Wine+Dine by Design, a night of South African wines and appetizers at International Market Square.
iraunink & I used two of the tickets,
sevenmpls & Dorf used the other two. We all had fun, Dorf won a bottle of wine.
iraunink & I would be more than willing to do it again! Tickets would have been $25/couple, with the proceeds going to benefit Spare Key.

laurel had pointed at a nice replacement unit (thanks,
laurel ), which we order through her Amazon associate link. It showed up this afternoon, I let it warm up and plugged it in, grabbed a torrent, copied the AVI to my USB drive, and, voila! Torchwood.
iraunink was very happy with me! I hadn't pointed out this capability of the new unit, and she'd missed it. {grin}
