In addition to the pizza, [livejournal.com profile] kosmickitten got the set of flatware that [livejournal.com profile] iraunink had promised her many moons ago.

Last week was what we refer to as 'vacation in place' - what with this and that, between October 1st and the end of the year I had 7 days of time off coming, and it's all 'use it or loose it'. I took three days off last week, and I'm taking four days off the first week in December.

The 14th was the release event for The Sharing Knife, Volume 1: Beguilement at Dreamhaven, followed by dinner out with LMB listies and dessert at my house. There are now three sample chapters up at EOS!

The 15th & 16th were quiet days at home - got a bunch of laundry done.

The 17th I went to the doctor for a diabetes follow-up - I need to get more exercise and loose some weight.

The 18th was shopping, followed by hosting gaming in the evening.

The 19th [livejournal.com profile] iraunink and I helped [livejournal.com profile] kosmickitten paint [livejournal.com profile] bernesemntdog's kitchen, and took her to lunch at the original Keys. Then the three of us went out to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. [livejournal.com profile] iraunink and I wanted to look at Mountain Ash trees (according to her research, the only tree from the rowan family that grows in our area) - we decided they were nice, but wouldn't work where we're going to be wanting to put a tree. We'll probably get a ginkgo when the time comes. [livejournal.com profile] kosmickitten wanted to look at fruit trees to see about replacing a dying maple, so we did that too. [livejournal.com profile] bernesemntdog treated us to dinner, then [livejournal.com profile] iraunink and I went home, [livejournal.com profile] bernesemntdog & [livejournal.com profile] kosmickitten went on their merry way.

The 20th [livejournal.com profile] iraunink woke up with a bump on her foot - it had felt like a cramp the evening before, now it definitely hurt! She got a doctor's appointment, the doctor x-rayed and diagnosed soft-tissue injury, prescribing rest, elevation, and cold. Came home from the doctor's, [livejournal.com profile] iraunink took a nap and I did some more laundry, and some computer stuff. That evening, we went out to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] pmrabble, followed by a Minnesota Orchestra concert.

The 21st we went to JoAnn's and got the other half of the fabric [livejournal.com profile] iraunink need to make a cloth bag for AJ - she's hoping to have it done in time for him to use for trick-or-treating this Halloween. Then we went to Convivial for the afternoon and evening.

And today I'm back at work!

Was a double-date with [livejournal.com profile] bernesemntdog & [livejournal.com profile] kosmickitten - we went to The Lord of the Rings Symphony at Orchestra Hall, presented by the Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Chorale, and Minnesota Boys Choir. We all enjoyed it immensely. I have my doubts about how long-lasting a piece it's going to be - the structure is closely tied to the movie narrative, and it's about two hours of music, so it might feel dis-jointed in the future.

Movie: Tivo catch-up (Eureka, some Stargate), possibly followed by 1776*
Wine: Chateau Grand Champ Bordeaux 2003
Pizza: DiGiorno Thin Crispy Crust Supreme Pizza

* - we got a copy of 1776 - The Musical at Costco yesterday!
sraun: Sleepy Precious (Sleep Now?)
Woke up this morning, showered, started a load of laundry.

Then [livejournal.com profile] iraunink and I headed off to Peking Garden to meet Karen J, Julie J, Julie's Mom, Don B & Margo B for dim sum. As we drove up, we discovered that the Peking Garden has moved - from Washington & University to University & Snelling. Not having Karen's cell phone number, we drove to their new location - where we discovered they're only doing buffet, no dim sum. They have to remodel before they can do dim sum, they plan on having the remodeling done by early December. :-( Everyone finally got there, and we decided we really wanted dim sum, so we went to Jun Bo in Richfield instead. Everyone was very happy with the dim sum at Jun Bo!

After dim sum, [livejournal.com profile] iraunink and I went the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. She figured that the last she went was either 22 or 24 years ago, I'm pretty certain the last time I went was on the order of 18 years ago (while I was working graveyard shift at the Minneapolis Plaza / Sheraton Ritz - I picked up Virginia N after work, we had breakfast somewhere down there, and go to the site bright and early). Spent about four hours there - bought some pickled garlic, a new switch plate for [livejournal.com profile] iraunink's room, a couple of pewter bookmarks, and a little ceramic bowl for putting q-tips in. We also ran into step-daughter Monica and had a pleasant conversation! Other people we ran into include [livejournal.com profile] pegkerr & her family, a co-worker and his family, and miscellaneous other friends - none of whom we knew were going to be there. A successful and fun expedition. We'll go again sometime, probably sooner than 15-20 years!
