Why doesn't Dagwood ever gain any weight?

There aren't many strips in which people do age. "Gasoline Alley", "For Better or For Worse"... Linus, Sally, and Rerun aged a little bit in "Peanuts", but then froze at the same (apparent) age as everyone else.
