As mentioned in a prior post, we got a DirecTV with TIVO Friday night on our way home. It is currently unboxed but not connected.

Next was our Friday night date - The Great Escape, pizza & wine. Then we stayed up too late watching Sphere - and didn't even finish it!

Saturday was a ten hour game of Advanced Civilization. There were five of us - I had one of the worst games I've had in years! I know what was wrong, I don't know why it was going wrong - I'll have to think about it and see if I can come up with any ideas. Any Advanced Civ players that would care to bounce this around? Any Advanced Civ players that would be interested and available for a game in Minneapolis, MN some weekend?

Sunday was dim sum at the Yangtze - in attendance were me, Joel, Deborah, Don, Margo, Page, Jan, and Julie J - followed by more gaming - Vinci and Rails Through The Rockies. We actually finished both of them! Not a surprise for Vinci - it's about a two hour game - but that we finished Rails, that was a surprise! Then Don, Joel, Deborah and I went to dinner at Maggiano's.

Maggiano's is ... generous in their portion sizes. For those of you that don't know them - half, maybe a bit more, of the entrees on their menu have a small size and a normal size. The small is at least as large as, if not larger than, your typical dinner entree at Olive Garden. Everything at Maggiano's is portioned that way! Joel & Don split a beef & mushroom entree, I had the appetizer platter, Deborah had the ravioli appetizer and a side of brocolli. Joel & Don finished their entree, I didn't quite finish the appetizer platter, and Deborah finished about 60% of each of her dishes. Then Joel ordered the dessert special - espresso ice cream profiteroles. What followed was one of the most priceless "aghast" moments I have ever had the please of witnessing - Deborah & I both wish we'd had some way of capturing it. As Joel put it, any one of the three profiteroles on the plate were larger than any he'd ever seen before - the whole thing was about 7 inches in diameter, and 5-6 inches tall. Joel saw this huge plate of dessert, and was aghast / shocked / astrounded. I burst out laughing, and said, "We warned you that all their portions are huge!"

Then it was home to ironing and bed.
