It always amuses me

that the National Weather Service automated weather forecast system (broadcast locally on channel 17) needs to be manually updated for daylight savings time. They think I'm up an hour early this morning.

What percentage of the new SF / Fantasy / Horror authors in the last ten years have come out of fandom? Or, to put it slightly differently, how many of them didn't, and were ... surprised by the organized fandom they found after they were published?
