Help! Germinating Advice

Irene's going to try starting Day Lilies from the seeds in the seedpods - they've got some nice peachy and deep purple ones at work, we're hoping some of them breed true.

Anyone know anything about starting them from seeds? I recommended peat pots, so she could just stick the pot in the ground. But, how many seeds per pot, how early should we start them, where to let them get started - I'm looking for suggestions.
