Vacation Report Wrap-Up
Jun. 8th, 2004 10:30 amWednesday: Jake came over one of these days to help Irene with gardening - the four Lights Azalea's made it into the ground. (I bought Irene Lights in Yellow, Rose, Purple and Orange.) Stopped for Marigolds when I went to get Jake. Ralph came over for dinner, and we talked - mostly about Katie. Made waffles with berries & whipped cream for lunch with Jake, more berries and whipped cream (over ice cream) for dessert after dinner.
Thursday: The dogs got their haircuts. After I dropped them off at 8AM, I went home and went back to sleep until 12:30. Then we ran around - got the dogs, brought them home, went to Bachman's to buy more Marigolds, and went to see The Seafood Guys and bought crawfish. Nate S & Betsy L came over for dinner - they liked our stir-fried green beans with garlic, and crawfish with garlic & white wine over pasta. Oh, and fresh berries over ice cream for dessert.
In case you couldn't tell, one of the local grocery stores had a sale on fresh berries - I got them in groups of six, two half-pints each of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. Pureed the raspberries with some Splenda, poured that over the blueberries & blackberries - wonderful!
Friday: We went grocery shopping. We went to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum to see their Totally Terrific Treehouses member preview. Highly recommended, especially if you've got elementary school kids - some of them are explorable by persons under about 3-4' tall. Admission is $7 per person, free for children 15 and under. It runs through October 10th.
We bought Irene a member + 1 guest membership last year - if anyone wants to go, she'll cheerfully trade transportation for one entry.
Saturday: We hosted the Minn-StF Meeting. Made sloppy joes and chocolate fondue, and ended up with way too much food! Lots of leftovers.
Sunday: Dead day - we barely made it to "let the dogs out". I did get caught up on The Pretender on TiVo.
