Thanksgiving morning I put up a bird feeder in the backyard. So far, a small number of cardinals (2-4) have found it, and a dozen or so of something small and brown. The birds have gone through about 6 lbs or so of food since it went up. Anyone know any good bird identification web sites?

Anyone want a full-size futon? Nice metal frame, mattress went into an anti-allergen wrap the day it was delivered. Comes with some burgundy sheets and pillowcases. Free to anyone who wants to come get it and haul it away from South Minneapolis, MN.

I had to be at work an hour and a half early this morning - it's been a long day!

Oh, wow. I would love the futon.... But I am not equiped to move it. Damn! Is it taken yet? I can ask around to find a ride for it, if not.

I can't think of any good ID sites right now, but I can tell you that the most common option for a group of small brown birds at a hanging feeder would be House Sparrows. Small brown birds at a platform or ground feeder would most likely be some other kind of sparrow. If some of them have red on them too, those would be House Finches.
