My current bag is an MPR Messenger bag. It's got a padded back and an interior pocket that's a nice size for a Dell Latitude D4xx, probably OK for a D6xx.

I have my doubts about just putting an ASUS EEE in it.

Anyone care to recommend a sleeve, or another bag, or something? I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I need to be carrying with me at any given time - the minimum is obviously more than I can comfortably fit in pockets, but I'm still trying to figure out exactly what that minimum is. The 'stuff I want to take to work' is bigger than the 'stuff I want to carry around all the time' - but I'm not certain what the margin is. I really need to dump everything out of the messenger bag and figure out what my realistic minimum is.

Off the top of my head, minimum is going to include cellphone, Nokia N810, meds, Levenger International pocket briefcase, writing utensils, ASUS EEE and accessories, Casio Exilim camera, and a variety of USB / SD / miniSD / microSD memory devices. Room for a hard-cover book would be nice.

Oh, and something to organize and protect all the memory cards would be nice, too!

I'm ecstatically happy with my Skooba butterfly briefcase (technically it's a Roadwired Checkthrough Messanger Bag). It's get to fly with (at least domestically), it can fit both my IBM 14.5" widebody and my Acer 10" and a hardcover and assorted other goodies. Nice wide shoulder strap, padded handle, and decent number of compartments. I'm really getting into Skooba. I just picked up a couple of micro-sized (netbook) checkthrough sleeves for future use on clearance.

I made my current laptop bag, so it's designed to hold my stuff exactly. Though I need to make a new bag that includes a spot for my Kindle and another for my passport, since both have gotten a lot of mileage recently.

Netbooks are about the size as small sketchbooks... so forget about computer stuff. Go to an art store or office supply store and pick something that will work for you.

I am a huge fan of the messenger bag. Alas, you probably have fewer choices as to daily carry than I do.

I had an older version of this for years: http://www.ebags.com/victorinox_swiss_army/ried/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=132842

Really, take yourself to TJMAXX or Marshalls with a hardback book (which subs nice for the netbook), and see what you like best. They tend to get a good selection of stuff for $50 or less. I saw a Tumi bag for $59 today which would be EXACTLY what you need. Amazing bag.

And etsy.com has some nice stuff as well.

My Asus EEE is book-sized, so my bag comfortably fits two decent-sized books, a small camera, crap like writing materials and meds, and my wallet. I have a small pouch for my phone which velcros onto the strap (other than the convenience, I can't hear my phone ring when it's in the bag).

I just chuck my EEE in with everything else (in its velcro sleeve), but it's got a solid state disk. I wouldn't get a netbook with a standard HDD for that reason.

Anyways, I love Crumpler bags. Mine's like this one, but a nice plain black: http://www.crumpler.com.au/Lite/English/Products/Barney-Rustle---BR21A.html?image=0

For something with a bit more room and padding for a laptop, there are these: http://www.crumpler.com.au/Lite/English/Products/Hoax---HO20A.html

My EEE came with a bag that works for me. But I'm not trying to carry around a bunch of accessories with it (that's what my purse is for [g]).

Good luck with this... I've been looking for the perfect purse for 30 years and still haven't found one. So now I have a couple of patterns and some fabric and I'm going to MAKE one... one which fits MY phone, MY laptop, MY makeup, MY PDA and all the other crap I carry with me (including, right now, the body of a sweater I'm knitting. :)
