I'm wondering how much of my reason for liking the TV series The Pretender is the strong similarity between Andrea Parker (Miss Parker in the series) and Diana Rigg (Mrs. Peel in The Avengers).
I've only seen a handful of episodes of The Pretender, but I was still highly amused when Andrea Parker showed up as a castmember of sitcom Less Than Perfect.
She's been great in it (the show's been on for two seasons, starts a third season this fall). She can do comedy, too!
I'm clearly going to have to tell jesusandrew about this - he is a big Avengers fan, and we have all the Diana Riggs, and several of the ones before and after whose names I have temporarily forgotten.
Speaking of Diana Rigg, have you seen "The Assassination Bureau"? Also starring Oliver Reed - hilariously funny, and if I recall correctly, Reed's character was something of an inspiration for Aral Vorkosigan.
Catherine, who would rather chat on LJ than do her work.
Set in the 1910s with Diana Rigg as a female journalist trying to get a story, and Oliver Reed as the head of an international assassination bureau which insists on high moral grounds for any assassination. Lots of running around Europe and increasingly baroque assassination attempts.
Catherine, trying not to give away any plot, just in case you haven't seen it.
