[livejournal.com profile] iraunink and I went out to dinner Tuesday night. We went to Bagu, and split their Pirate's Platter.

We really liked it. We're thinking about going back some Thursday night for their all-you-can-eat sushi.

Which brings to mind a question - for those of you in the Twin Cities who like sushi, who else is doing all-you-can-eat sushi? How much and when?

Some places via Yelp

My current favorite restaurant, Hibachi Buffet (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=229514&id=530260137&l=c9cb6428d3), has all-you-can-eat sushi as part of its regular service. Not a great selection or high-end fish, but for $8.75 can't be beat. (They've lowered prices since opening.) Slightly better selection during dinner (a couple of bucks more). The hibachi part is okay, though not up to Khan's Mongolian BBQ. The rest of the buffet ranges from great to good. And beverage is included!

Hibachi is similar to 98 Pound Buffet (http://www.merchantcircle.com/business/98.Pounds.Buffet.952-881-1088) at 98th and 35W, but a much better (and healthier) selection of foods. Haven't directly compared their sushi.

The Minneapolis Grand Hotel downtown has AYCE sushi on Sundays for $35, if it hasn't changed. It used to be wonderful back when it was Martini Blu; now it's still quite good, but the creative sushi chef doesn't get to exercise his skill quite as much.

There's an AYCE sushi, teppanyaki, and general Japanese place in Eagan for $25 (lunch, with a smaller selection, is $15). They only have the basic types of sushi, but it's fresh, and they carry my favorites, other than amaebi. I can't remember what the name is -- it's something pretty generic -- but if you're interested, I can give you directions.

I haven't been to Ichiban in years, but they used to do quite a good job.

Zah Tar (in the Grand Hotel) was $30 last time I checked. (I get sashimi, so it's possible the sushi price changed without me noticing.)

You're right; it's $30. And they have AYCE sushi on Tuesday as well as Sunday.
