My current stand on the upcoming election

The Patriot Act, and the follow-up legislation and activities, are what lost Bush - and the Republican Party - my vote. I was somewhat surprised to discover I can be a single-issue voter - threaten my civil liberties, and I'll vote to kick you out.

On a related note - anyone have the text of the last Presidential speech from The American President handy? Where Michael Douglas' character publicly asks his opponent 'Why aren't you a member of the ACLU, a group that exists solely to uphold the American Constitution?'

I'm not aware of any follow-up legislation that's been submitted to Congress, much less passed into law, except from the Democrats who have put forward legislation to roll back some of the Patriot stuff, although interestingly not FISA.

(On a related item, I will take time tonight to help Erin find her copy of The Artist's Way. Sorry about the delay.)
