Instructions
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My Wish List (in no particular order)
1. Newish Sharp Zaurus (SL-6000, or the SL-C750 or SL-C860)
2. Bejeweled 2 from Astraware
3. Twelve Girls Band CD or MP3's
4. A Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen (blue preferred, but I'll take any)
5. No longer being the villain with Monica and Flavin
6. For the LGL Leukemia to be over and done with
7. A new job, preferably in some type of network admin, with a company that appreciates their computer support staff
8. A source for for not-cheap MedicAlert ID bracelets - the only ones I've been able to find recently have had cheap thin bracelets.
9. A Korval Tree and Dragon LJ Icon (check out www.korval.com)
10. A good introduction to X using the Gnome and KDE window managers (could be two separate books / web sites / whatever)
My e-mail address is on my LJ UserInfo page, my mailing address is on my website (linked from my LJ UserInfo page). Someone added 'if you are participating in this meme, post a link to your wish list in the comments here so I can find it' - sounds like a good idea to me!

Date: 2004-11-30 03:12 pm (UTC)Have you looked at their necklaces? We got Alec a MedicAlert necklace because there was too much information to go on a bracelet. They have the standard stainless steel and red one, but they also have a 10k gold chain (Alec is allergic to nickel and the stainless steel has it) and the pendant has gold. We have been very satisfied with it, and it's gone through a LOT! You can see them at www.medicalert.org. I just double checked the website to be sure. They have new "emblems" since we got Alec's a year ago. Good luck!
