We celebrate Christmas. Because Irene's kids spent/spend Christmas Day with their father, we celebrate it on Christmas Eve. Yesterday was
Monica and Flavin decided to come. Jake came, as did Katie and Ralph. Most of the presents were contributed by Katie and Ralph. As Irene put it, Monica was in a bitchy mood. We opened presents, and then talked for a while. The conversation was monopolized by Monica talking to Jake about their car - it suffered some injury, the shop estimated $2000 to make it drivable, something over that to fix everything. Jake and Monica took off to take a look at it before dinner came out of the crockpot - I made Orange Honey Chicken - it was much more peaceful for that hour or so! When they got back, Jake was apparently guardedly optimistic about being able to fix the car. Monica cheered up somewhere in the middle of dinner.
Everybody left about 7:00 or 7:30, and Irene and I played on computers and watched TV until after midnight.
As Irene put it this morning - at least only one of the kids was mad at us at Christmas this year!
On the plus side - I did get the dead-tree edition of Einblatt published!
