Can I go back to bed now?

Shortly after 5AM, bernesemntdog called and reported that kosmickitten had left him a message. She 'might not make her plane', and the word 'accident' was mentioned.

I was not ready for the phone to be ringing at 5AM!

I closed my eyes and tried to go back to sleep for an hour and a half - I did not exactly succeed. I did get some more rest, but not sleep. Alarm went off at 6:30, I staggered out of bed and started the morning 'get organized' routine.

About 7, kosmickitten called. She had made it to the airport, her plane was taking off on schedule and was boarding now, and she was going to be getting to Minneapolis on time (which meant my wife needed to go to work with me and take the car for the day, so she could pick her up). She also said something about a 'long story about the arduous time getting to the airport' (I specifically recall the word 'arduous'.)

I expect I'll get more details over dinner tonight.

Aii. 5 AM phone calls are never good news!

Oh, I don't know about that. I used to work a graveyard shift - 5AM phone calls were frequently a welcome diversion!

I have this feeling I'm going to get to hear about someone's car tonight.
