Jobhunt - spent some time on www.monster.com, www.careerbuilder.com, www.dice.com, and a few corporate specific sites. There was this interview Tuesday a week ago - given that (according to their HR person), I was there the last day of first round interviews, I'm probably out of the running. Had a first-round phone interview Friday afternoon. I am encouraged that I'm getting the interviews. But (isn't there always a 'but'?), I apparently do not interview well. I realized a few weeks ago that, since I left the hotel industry in the early 80's, all the jobs I've gotten have been 'come in as a temp, then get hired as a regular employee'. The major drawback to this is that, if that's the way it goes this time around, it means I'm going to have to cover my own health insurance for some period of time (two months would seem to be a reasonable minimum). That doesn't sound pleasant. (For those who don't remember, see http://www.livejournal.com/users/sraun/124786.html - short form, my job is probably going away the end of May.)

Mac had a couple of vet visits this week. I had gaming Monday night, Irene came down afterwards and noticed a bunch of little red spots on the floor - they looked suspiciously like blood. A little observation led to Mac's left front paw - he'd seriously cut the pad on the equivalent of the human middle finger. Took him off to the vet Tuesday after work - she looked, and decided that the injury was probably older - it looked infected to her, she thought that what had happened was he'd started seriously licking then, broke it open, it bled, etc. They wrapped a bandage around his paw and gave me two weeks worth of antibiotics, and told me to bring him back in two days. He went back Thursday afternoon, they took the bandage off, said it looked good, keep him from compulsively licking it (they gave us one of those wonderful cone collars), and let it get some air. He's healing nicely - there was definite limping earlier in the week - he really only wanted to walk on three legs! - now he's limping a very little bit.

No new drama in the immediate family - some drama in the extended family. Not directly affecting me or Irene - ask me off-LJ if you're really interested. Chances are that only two of you reading this know the principles.

We're planning on making it to a bunch of plant sales Mother's Day weekend. Irene is making progress on the plan to eliminate all grass in the back yard.

We're getting new glass-block windows in the basement sometime in early June.

Meh. Welcome to the Does Not Interview Well Club.

It doesn't help that I think job interviews are the spawn of Satan. Right up there in the "truly inspired evil ideas" list, along with off-key wind chimes and Barney.

sigh.

You, at least, have long-term experience in your field. I'm a newbie, with no certification to advertise. **double sigh**

Wanna bet you get new employment before I do?
