I've talked to him - he's doing more temp work than direct-to-hire right now. However, he's keeping me in mind for any direct-to-hire that cross his desk, and I'll calling him to tell him I'm available on July 5th.

It's good to know, at least. I was nervous as hell when state.va.us (and thus vcu.edu) was conducting layoffs, even though I survived the cuts (and had a high enough profile doing a particular part of the job that, intellectually, I knew I probably would indeed survive.)

Good luck with that job hunt. Hopefully having specific dates will help.
