Cognitive Dissonance

So, does anyone else have a high degree of cognitive dissonance when they hear Appalachian Spring? There was a wonderful arrangement of Simple Gifts on KSJN this morning - Alison Kraus doing vocals, Yo-Yo Ma doing cello, nothing else. I do love Appalachian Spring - it's just that all that gorgeous orchestration does have some conflict with the original song.

In other music news, I got to hear the Daffy Duck version of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody #2. That is ... just weird.

I don't remember hearing it before, but that doesn't mean I haven't? When I heard it, it did sound vaguely familiar - but that sense of familiarity was not helped by the fact that they'd played a full orchestral version just before it.
