Anyone have any experience with this appliance - Back To Basics Egg N' Muffin Toaster? The two customer reviews at target.com are glowing. The write-up included confirmation of an assumption - I had assumed I could used scrambled eggs / egg substitute.

From what I can tell, it's basically an automagic generic Egg McMuffin maker. I did some checking at the grocery store yesterday - in small quantities, I can get the English Muffin, Canadian Bacon, pre-sliced cheese and egg product for right around a dollar - this is somewhere in the $0.50 to $1.50 cheaper than what I can find to microwave that makes an acceptable breakfast, and I can get 25% calories from fat, versus the 50% (if I'm lucky) calories from fat for the microwaveable stuff. I assume I'd be able to beat that unit cost if I buy stuff in larger quantities.

It's about the limit for the amount of work I'll put into week-day breakfast. It would be a definite win in terms of the healthiness of the breakfast I eat. We're very likely to get one sometime before the end of the month, unless I hear something really awful.

Coooool! I followed the link with great scepticism, but I am sold. We haven't had a toaster of any sort since we kashered the kitchen, and I think this would be a wonderful thing.

My sister got one for Christmas, and it looked very cool! I will see if I can get a review out of her to pass along.

She says: "I've only tried the hard-boiled eggs and toast, but
both were perfect! (hard-boiled eggs were very easy...)"

Sounds like a go to me! I'm kinda thinking of getting one myself. I've been using a toaster oven for the last...13 years.

The answer to your first question is: Yes

[livejournal.com profile] radparker got one of those for Christmas and brought it in to work. It is currently sitting in [livejournal.com profile] ande2713's cubicle (the cubicle next to mine) because she's using it the most. The one English muffin and egg product sandwich that I had from it was OK. The egg was a little underdone for my taste but, as [livejournal.com profile] laurel will tell you, I tend to like my egg done a little more than most folks.

What a wonderful idea to have it at work! Depending on sraun's review, I may buy one. If work lets me, I'm parking it in my cube. Yum.
