Anyone have a bank in the Twin Cities metro area they like?

I'm getting fed up with USBank, and am thinking about moving my checking account. I write a handful of checks a year, do a lot of debit card transactions, and make an auto-deposit twice a month.

ETA: I make one or two ATM withdrawals per auto-deposit. With USBank, there are no convenient drive-through ATMs - the only kind-of convenient ATMs for me currently are the ones in Byerly's.

Do you want the bank to interface to Quicken, and/or do you use their "online banking" features? I understand there are big differences there.

We've been decently happy with TCF for the last 20 years or so; Hmm; longer really, I used them some *before* I moved to Boston. Currently we can download their transactions into quicken reliably, too. I don't think we're hooked up for electronic outgoing payments, though.

City County Federal Credit Union. You can join because you live in Minneapolis. I've been with them 20 years, and they are GREAT. Nearest branch for you would probably be 4701 Chicago Ave. Their savings rates are high, their fees are low. They can do almost everything a bank can do, and certainly everything most people need, even safe deposit boxes.

You can look at their website:

I know there's an ATM locator on it somewhere. I don't use ATMs as a general rule.

I've been happy with Wells Fargo for years (well, it was Norwest and maybe something else). Easy to view online transactions and like that. Lots of ATMs in network. Quite a few locations (I use an uptown one when I need to actually go to a bank, though I still have my personal account at the branch in Minnetonka. Not that physical location matters, I banked just fine from South Dakota).

Kevin has been using TCF for a goodly while. We put our joint account at Wells Fargo and I've found it super easy to transfer funds between the two accounts there (my personal, our joint) as needed.

May I suggest you look into a credit union? I find they're generally much less user-unfriendly than banks. Probably because their customers are their stockholders. *G*

I've been very very happy w/Affinity Plus Credet Union. I know ATM use through Wells Fargo is free
