sraun: Mac in show-coat (ShihTzu Mac)

Most of you probably remember that Mac is my intact male prize-winning former show dog Sir Winsalot. The icon for this post is him in full show cut. I got him for free, the breeder reserved stud rights. Expanded story available upon request.

He's spending the night with his breeder. She picked him up this afternoon to take him to her vet for a fertility test. If he passes, he'll be going out have a week of debauchery the next time a specific one of her bitches comes into heat.

This was prompted by an offer from the City of Minneapolis - lifetime dog licenses for $100 through 31 December 2006 with proof of current rabies vaccine, proof of spay/neuter, and proof of ID chip w/ number. All proof to be provided by your vet. We're doing it for the two girls - we've already got all the paperwork. If the breeder decided she doesn't want to use Mac (i.e., he fails the fertility test), we're going to get a quick neuter and buy one for him too.

We'll certainly miss him tonight - we'll only have two dogs sharing the bed instead of three. :-)

Is it just me, or does it seem, well, unfair, that if he flunks the fertility test, he gets neutered? I hope he passes and gets his week of doggie debauchery.

When I saw "No Mac Tonight" I was thinking you had been expecting an Apple delivery that was delayed, or some such.

I'd never heard of doggie fertility tests. It does makes sense that they'd exist, though. Good luck to Mac for future debauchery :-)

Dog licenses? Dogs have to be licensed in Minneapolis? I guess I'd heard the term "dog license" before but never heard of anyone needing one (and we never did as far as I can recall for our dogs).

Nominally, cats are supposed to be licensed too.

"There's no such thing as a fish license; you don't need one!"

Well, at least the forecast is not calling for a Three Dog Night.
