We just watched the first two episodes of the SciFi channel series. It's been a few years since I read any of the books - I only really remember the first one. I enjoyed it. I liked Bob. It looks like it could be a good series.

Never read the books, but, based on buzz around here, tried the first two episodes. Liked them. I gather Bob is just a skull in the books? Yes, I think this a more engaging scheme for treating him. :<)

IIRC, he was skull with glowing red eyes, and maybe red glow from the nostrils and mouth. He's also - as was hinted at in the second episode - sex-crazed. If he's let out of the skull (which happened at least once), he'll go off to a sorority house for a few days of debauchery.

Yes, in the books he's an air spirit, trapped in the skull, rather than a ghost. Doing it this way means they have more of the CGI budget for other things.
