It's been an interesting coupld of days.
Irene & I spent 4+ hours at the emergency room last night - she's been having a stuffed up nose that consistently blew blood, yesterday afternoon she was dizzy and had double vision. She called the doctor's office, they told her to go to the emergency room. Bunch of testing - no, it was not a stroke (but we were both worried for a while) - unfortunately, all the tests came out normal. There was no obvious reason for her to be having double vision. We're off to see our regular physician tomorrow - hopefully more will come of that.
On top of that, my father is - as I type this - 2.5 hours into a 6 hour long emergency heart bypass. He saw the heart people yesterday, they did a stress test, told him they wanted to see him today. When he went in today, they told him they wanted to schedule surgery for Friday or Saturday. Then they did another stress test, and changed their minds - they wanted to do the surgery now! That was apparently sometime late this morning. I'll be hearing from one of my step-sisters after it's done - this is a 'no news is good news' assumption - she'll be calling me in the wee hours of the morning with bad news, or somewhere between 6-8AM if it's good news.
I'm very much hoping I don't get a middle-of-the-night phone call. And that this is the end of excitement for a while!
