The worst part of the storm for me here in Minneapolis, MN is the dogs - my three Shih Tzu's do not want to go out in that stuff! It's not the falling from the sky that really bothers them - it's trying to get through the snow that deeper than they're tall.

Other than that - I don't have to move my car until we go out to the Minnesota Orchestra concert Friday night. I'll have to print Einblatt either late Friday afternoon or before Noon on Saturday. We've got food - tonight's going to be wine, pizza and a movie. So, we're sitting back, relaxing, and watching the snow.

pirate says "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh it's still there" and turns tail everytime i open the back door. then we have a short discussion about whether or not this household is a democracy, and then i deposit her on the steps.

The puppies don't mind the snow at all, gleefully romping into stuff as tall as their shoulders. If there was deeper, I think they'd go into that too! They look pretty silly all covered in snow, which reminds me I still need to find the charger for my camera battery, dammit.

I sympathize; I've had the experience of going out in snow deeper than I was tall.

Scott, do you happen to know the conversion of inches of snow = how much actual precipitation? We've been trying to translate the (admittedly Chamber of Commerce, heh) claim that Redwing, MN averages only something like 2.5" of precipitation in the winter months. So is that really, like, 4 feet of snow or whatever? And it just melts down to 2.5" of water?

Yeah, Guido has re-focused on Redwing as her certification school. Plans to go up there to take a look-around at the end of March/beginning of April. Mid-May she'll go again (that time I plan to be with her) for formal enrollment and to pin down housing. Classes will run August 07 to May 08.

So. This snow thing? Are we "all gonna DIE"?!?!?

Hee, hee! Wait'll I tell her that 10.1 ratio. She'll freak, oh yeah. *grins*

Actually, I figured y'all hardy Minnesotans would take it pretty much in stride--or slide, as the case may be--even in this current bit-more-than-usual storm. It's we longtime desert rats (remember, Emily has never lived anywhere else but southeastern New Mexico) who are convinced that that much sn*w is simply not survivable.

Yup. Yup. We're all gonna-- ! ! !

Red Wing's actually a pretty nice town, even though it's (amazingly) turning into a commuter area for the Cities now.

I'm down close to Red Wing once or twice a week during the winter. My ski area of choice is Welch Village, just up the Cannon River. In fact, I was just down there last Sunday making sure that nasty powder from Saturday got properly packed on the hill.

You can tell her that I'm proof that desert folks can handle Minnesota - I'm a White Sands brat from the mid 50's. Also, we'll be expecting visit details.

And the snow isn't that bad this time. It's just that winter decided to give us our snow in two big shovels full. It's only the second foot of heavy wet stuff I've been moving out of my driveway this week.....

And I'm having problems getting Ernie and Belle to come back IN! Goofs. Of course, they're a bit taller....
