We got lucky at Land's End Inlets the last two days - nine pairs of men's pants for $105.50. Five $29.50 pairs marked down to $9.50, four pairs at $39.50-66 marked down to $14.50. I am inordinately pleased!
There used to be one of those in my best friend's home town, and I could combine a visit to see her with wonderful Land's End cheapie shopping. It closed, to my sorrow. Now I have to buy their stuff via catalog or at Sears.
I've actually got three available - two of them are relatively large, and carry a lot of brand-new at-catalog-prices merchandise with a little bit of outlet stuff. The third is a little hole-in-the-wall (maybe 20% of the size of the others - maybe smaller), that is pure outlet. That's where I found eight pair of good men's pants, 46" waist and 30-32" inseam (ideally I wear 31, so 30 is a little short and 32 is a little long, but both are wearable) - I was amazed!
I hit the Lands End Outlet store on State Street a lot, and the Inlet (with full price stuff) if I get out to that end of town. I either find nothing or get some real bargains. I think at least half my wardrobe comes from there. I'm currently wearing Lands End jeans ($9.50), a Lands End madras shirt ($8.00) and a Lands End "ski sweater" pattern zip-front cotton/lambswool blend cardigan ($19.00).
And one of my swimsuits wore out, so I need to check the State Street store regularly until they have one my size in a style I'm willing to wear.
Oh, you knew they've got an outlet in Dodgeville, WI, right? (That's where they started, before they were bought by Sears.) I think it's day-trip distance for you, if you and iraunink felt like doing one of those.
Dodgeville is about five hours from here - Madison is actually about a half-hour closer time-wise. We stopped at the Dodgeville Outlet store on our way back from Madison last time - it's about the same size as the Outlet in HarMar (where I got lucky yesterday). The problem for us with going to Lands End is that it takes a special trip - none of the local stores are really convenient to our normal stomping grounds.
Alas.
