It's at a medium-sized liberal arts college with campuses in Minneapolis & St. Paul, Minnesota.
The University of St. Thomas Physics Department invites applications for two tenure-track positions to begin Fall, 2008, one at the rank of Assistant Professor and one at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, the rank of the latter depending on qualifications. Including these hires, the Physics Department consists of six full-time faculty in a broad range of fields, a full-time laboratory manager, and three adjunct faculty. The Physics Department serves undergraduate students only, and we currently graduate 8 to 10 majors per year in our growing program. Our faculty members give students a high degree of personal attention to foster a nurturing, yet rigorous, educational atmosphere that is conducive to enjoyable and meaningful learning. An ABD will be considered, though a Ph.D. is preferred, with postdoctoral and teaching experience desirable. The area of specialty is open, though a strong interest in and aptitude for teaching undergraduates (majors and non-majors) in introductory and advanced classes and laboratories is vital. Responsibilities include undergraduate classroom and laboratory instruction as well as conducting undergraduate student-faculty collaborative research. Startup funds and dedicated laboratory space are available. For more information, please see: www.stthomas.edu/physics/.
