Which Philip K. Dick novel was it in which the detective and the kingpin he was pursuing turned out to be the same person, under the influence of a mind-altering drug? (A Scanner Darkly?)

Good question - unfortunately, I haven't the faintest idea what the answer is. IIRC, the only Dick novel I've finished is Man in the High Castle. I do believe I've read a few of his short fiction pieces, but in general I can't stand his stuff. Maybe someone else will pop in with the answer?

A Scanner Darkly would be it, yeah. Great stuff; highly recommended if you can take Dick's writing style at all. I can.
