I just finished an ARC of The Sharing Knife: Passage.

Lois did a wonderful job of taking a very small molehill from one of the earlier books, and sticking a mountain under it.

Lots of Dag & Fawn. Whit joins them, and grows up! Everyone learns stuff. I'd say this one is more on the fantasy side of the fantasy/romance cross-over, but I'm guessing there's enough romance to keep the romance fans interested.

There's some serious heart-wrenching in this one! Oh, that poor girl!

From what little time I've spent floating on a river (used to go out for weekend days on the Missouri when I visited my grand-parents), I'd say she got the rivers right!

What's the molehill? Feel free to email me directly if you don't want to post. BTW, did you see on Lois' blog that Listees are driving her a bit crazy with our extreme spoiler-phobia? I'm with her on this one. At least for a TSK book. I might feel differently if I expected to like it.

[think, think, think]

Even if I expected to like it, I wouldn't mind knowing what the problem is. If it's something that happens early in the book I'm OK having it spoiled. For example, knowing in advance that Miles is unwillingly separated from the Dendarii in Memory, or that his trying to court Kat on the sly would blow up in his face in ACC.

Mmmm... does this book have a proper ending? I'm still leaning towards waiting for Horizon to come out before reading Passage, after what Lois said about 2-book arcs.

It depends what you mean by "a proper ending." It doesn't end on a cliffhanger, and the story that it's about pretty much comes to an end, but you do get somewhat of a feel for what the sequel will be about, though it's only touched upon.

(I've read both Passage and its sequel, being lucky enough to be one of Lois' first readers.)

Mmm... okay. No cliffhanger is good. But does the end of Passage seem much like the last two endings in style? (I know, YMMV, but I really hated the end of Legacy (personal triggers), and I wasn't enthralled with Beguilement, so I'm beginning to think that I should steer clear of this series.)

Nice review!

I'm a bit behind on-list; if you haven't posted a link to this post over there yet, you should. Lois is looking for reviews, so this'd put her, if not over the moon, at least appreciably closer.

:)
