Dinner Out for Life
Apr. 24th, 2008 09:31 pmA bunch of us had dinner out as part of Dining Out for Life. (Sorry I didn't get a reminder out.)
We ended up with a party of six - me,
iraunink, Don & Margo, Julie & Deanna (WANOLJ). We went to Cafe Ena.
What we had:
iraunink & I split these for our dinner:
Asado - Grilled flank steak drizzled with a chimichuri sauce, served with an Argentinian style potato salad.
Tamal - A traditional Oaxacan tamal filled with chicken in a dark mole sauce wrapped in a banana leaf garnished with Cojita cheese.
Ceviche Duo - A traditional Mexican ceviche served with corn tortillas and a South American style ceviche served with fried plantains (tostones).
Croqueta de Salmon - Smoked Salmon cakes served with a romaine and mango salsa, citrus vinaigrette and cascabel aioli.
Three of our companions had:
Lomo - Grilled pork tenderloin served with a bell pepper, asparagus, and apple salad, parsley rice, surrounded by a warm brie cheese sauce and a pomegranate plum sauce.
One had:
Conchas - Pan seared sea scallops served with a coconut risotto, sautéed julienned vegetables surrounded by herb infused and achiote chili oils, topped with a jicama fennel slaw.
Then we had desserts:
One glass of Port, one order of Pineapple Empanadas (with cinnamon ice cream), two flourless chocolate cakes (topped with cinnamon mouse and candied orange peel), and one banana cream pie.
All of us think it would be a great place to go back to!
