sraunSome of my Dear Readers may remember my younger step-daughter, Katie, from Marscon? I know some of you kept up the teasing on the subject of He's Not My Boyfriend after Irene & I left Katie and Ralph in the Minn-StF Party and went out exploring (and thank you very much for doing so!).
Well, He's Not My Boyfriend became He's My Boyfriend at Geek Prom (April 25th, for those who don't remember). Things proceeded through the summer - he gave her a promise ring in late July or early August before she went off to college. (Or, as Irene came up with, he tagged her and released her back into the wild.)
It was quite amusing listening to Katie describe other guys as their appearance related to Ralph - they lost ground steadily all summer, hitting their low point in early October with 'there are a lot of hot guys here at school, but none are as hot as Ralph.'
In late September or early October, she was looking aT wedding dresses. We asked if she was engaged - she said no, and 'What good is having a gun if you can't jump it?'
As of today, 3 January 2004, they are officially engaged. She's walking around with a 1.03 carat marquis-cut diamond - it's a very flashy rock, and will do a wonderful job of making her dorm-mates incredibly jealous when she goes back to college on the 6th!
