I'm certain it is much funnier to people who are steeped in the tradition for whatever reason. I know just enough about it to find it amusing, and to realize that there are jokes at some points that I'm not getting.
Apparently watching me and my boyfriend at the time watching Hebrew Hammer was MUCH funnier to my friends than the actual movie was to my friends when it first came out.
