LJ Post-By-E-mail address?

I'm trying to get post-by-e-mail working again. It was working before the server crash - now I'm getting errors trying to use it.

Now, my last successful e-mail post was in September 2008. I've just been going through the FAQs - it looks good to me. Is the address I should use still sraun@post.livejournal.com?

Are they complaining about a reverse DNS failure?

I know absolutely nothing about posting to LJ by email, but given the SMTP error and the host not found, combined with fireopal's recent server issues, I would try posting from another email account (on another server) if you have one. If it works for another account, it's fireopal; if not, it's LJ. Always best to test one variable at a time if you can.

Has (username)+(PIN)@post.livejournal.com. I don't think it matters what account I post from. I just used it to post.

The email address you post from must be listed in your list of allowed senders.

Yeah, I've already verified that. And I'm going to be poking at my e-mail config, because it looks like my server is identifying to LJ as fireagate.fireopal.org, and I thought I fixed that! I've got both the fireopal.org & fireagate.fireopal.org addresses as allowed - neither is working. :-(

I strongly suspect that it is a reverse DNS issue, and so I'm screwed. I'm going to open a support ticket about it later in the week, just to verify.

You have to have a Paid, Plus or Permanent account.

Grrr. It's getting the reverseDNS that I don't control. This is the one place where running my server from home is a pain - reverseDNS points to a domain name issued by my ISP.

Ah, well - I'll come up with something else.
