The latest from the doctor
Jun. 14th, 2004 09:42 pmI had another leukemia follow-up today. Found out the results of the Neutrophil Activation Test - it guardedly positive. My base Neutrophil count was 600, normal is, IIRC, 1500-7500. After the steroid dose, I showed an increase of 1000, normal increase is 2000. The doctor said this was a reasonably good outcome.
We discussed treatment regimes - between Irene, me, and the doctor, we decided to try methotrexate. 12.5 mg once per week, follow-up visit in six weeks, tentative length of treatment three months.

Sending out positive thoughts!

Date: 2004-06-14 09:35 pm (UTC)healthy thoughts and hugs are winging your way from phoenix!
i second the nausea suggestion. also, hopes that you won't need to. a friend takes it for rheumatoid arthritis and has had absolutely no side effects.
for alec, using it for his ALL, it was one of the chemotherapy drugs that he tolerated well.
good luck!

Date: 2004-06-15 06:55 am (UTC)reasonably good...
Date: 2004-06-15 08:47 am (UTC)Boring is reasonably good. The most likely "excitement" would be for conditions now smoldering to suddenly fulminate. The least likely excitement would be to learn of a new treatment.
Boring is good. Wishing you many years of same...

Date: 2004-06-16 04:39 am (UTC)My sister suffered from leukemia for just over 5 years, and I guess if I have any advice its to always make sure the doctors know what you want/need, and to try to live as normal a life as you can while you're under treatment.
