I need a To Do List Manager. My major requirement is that it support pop-up reminders for semi-arbitrary times of day (hour & half-hour is sufficient). Next requirement is recurring tasks (Examples: every Monday at 3:30pm; every Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 1pm). I was using the Outlook Task Manager - it was more powerful that what I needed. It needs to run on Windows 7.

I'd also be interested in something that would run under *buntu.

I use Google Calendar for that.

Google calendar will do that. Your reminder options are:
Pop-up (you have to be logged in to Google calendar)
Email (you have to be able to see that you have email)
SMS (You have to be able to receive txt messages).

I started to use http://www.cutereminder.com/, just before my husband said it was time to get a new computer! I got it free from www.giveawayoftheday.com. Is available for 30 day free trial. Worked pretty nicely, but I didn't test all of its features, so not sure if it will do everything you want, and not sure about Win 7 since I haven't installed it on the new machine yet.

Under Ubuntu, korganizer should do what you need.

It's KDE, rather than Gnome, so you might have to install it separately rather than having it automatically show up on the desktop. (Or you could switch to KDE as your default.)
