And tonight I made a trek to a Geek Mecca

Last night I went out to dinner with colleagues. On the way, I drove by a Fry's Electronics. It was closed by the time I was headed back to my hotel. :-(

Today, my meetings were three blocks away from said Fry's. And I gave one of my colleagues a ride back to his hotel, which was the other side of said Fry's from my hotel. Best route back took me right by said Fry's.

I couldn't resist. I stopped and went in.

It was decorated for Halloween. Tiki + Halloween? I was a bit croggled.

I can see why it has the reputation it does. I even bought some stuff! It's probably a good thing I don't live within easy driving distance of one.

For the curious, it was the store in Manhattan Beach.

They are so much fun.

There's one that's just a little out of the way on my way home from work.

My brother-in-law the geek is a big Fry's fan. He was very disappointed to find out there wasn't one in driving distance when he happened to be doing some upgrading on my computer while he was visiting me a few years ago. An oversight that has since been rectified, somewhat (it's till half an hour's drive to get to the only Fry's in the area I'm aware of). I really ought to take the trip and see what the hullabaloo is all about.
