How soon until the first made-for-TV movie of the 35-W bridge collapse comes out?

I was wondering how long before the first wrongful death lawsuit is filed.

I have to say that that's actually a very good and valid question.

I'm waiting for a TV Movie about 7/7, myself.

I'd say the over-under on that bet would be six months.

Sounds about right. They need time to film it, but it can't go too long or people will forget about it. My money is on Lifetime as producer.

Three months, maybe. It depends on whether any really good heroes or villains come to light. The school bus is pure schlock gold, but only if they can cast the driver or someone else as the hero who saved all those ickle!baby!children. A couple of dead rescue workers, especially if they saved a few photogenic people first, would guarantee a tearjerker, while a corrupt bridge inspector or construction boss would make it more of a morality play ending with the conviction and imprisonment of the villain (or a post-modern version, with the villain escaping rightful retribution). Without any obvious heroes or villains, we're just going to get "Dateline: America's Ageing Infrastructure," and I think they've already done that one.

God I've gone cynical. But after they made a movie about flight whatsis on 9/11, I don't think the movie makers have any shame.

Yep. It's gonna be a really bad made-for-TV movie, probably part of the "Hallmark Hall of Fame" series.

It's not sickness on your part, it's an honest (if cynical) recognition of the base nature of the entertainment industry. You know someone will probably do it. :(

Are you starting a pool?

In general, it takes about six months to get something from script to air.

I'm guessing they'll wait a week or two to find a couple of good human-interest links, and then a dozen scriptwriters will each write something up, and three different cable networks will each buy one, and away we go!!!

PS I hope they are taking notes for National Geographic's "Seconds From Disaster." This is an obvious topic for them.

That's just too weird a thought.
