First, congrats on being my first source of this information! I hadn't been checking my UMN e-mail since my Internet situation is so crappy right now.
It looks like the fire is above the level of the detector and is very unlikely to have spread downwards due to the way the air flows and the distribution of flammable material down there. It seems likely that the impact will be mostly in however difficult it is to restore electricity to the detector.
